Partner with Registered Education Providers
There are more than 1,000 PMI Registered Education Providers (R.E.P.s) worldwide offering project management training, from basic Project Management Professional (PMP®) exam preparation seminars to more advanced project management coursework focused on change management or earned value management. Read on for more information about REPs, including how to find one by creating a request for proposal or using our online directory.
What is an R.E.P.?
An R.E.P. is an independent educational organization that, while functionally separate from PMI, has met its rigorous standards for project management education. PMI reviews instructor qualifications, educational materials and procedures for continuous improvement of course delivery techniques and accuracy in their advertising. Although it would be impossible for PMI to guarantee the success of every R.E.P. training activity, we ensure that all organizations meet the established criteria at the time of their review. All R.E.P.s are reviewed every three years.
There is a wide range of organizations certified as R.E.P.s, each with their own unique focus and approach. An R.E.P. can be a commercial training provider that designs complete educational systems, which they present in conference rooms and training centers around the globe. An R.E.P. can also be an offshoot of an organization whose commitment to project management excellence has led them to create their own internal education and training units.
An R.E.P. can be a state or government agency, such as the U.S. Department of Energy or NASA, charged either with building and enriching the project management capabilities of their own employees or elevating standards across multiple branches of government.
Finally, an R.E.P. can also be an institution of higher learning, just like you. There are more than 150 of them worldwide - each with a unique understanding of the challenges and opportunities that you may face along the way to starting, building or advancing your program.
Find an R.E.P. Using a Request For Proposal
An efficient method of finding an R.E.P. interested in collaborating with your institution is to create and submit a Request for Proposal (RFP) for development of a training course or program.
While your RFP may take the form that is the most effective for you, we recommend that it provide at least, the following information. If you choose to design a more detailed and elaborate RFP, include it as an attachment (in Microsoft Word) in your RFP e-mail.
Suggested RFP Format:
1: Point of contact information - Name, e-mail address, company name, telephone and fax numbers
2: Scope of work - describe learning objectives and topics to be covered
3: Demographics/Geography - the number of people, location (on-site, distance learning, etc.), language, desired length of class (days)
4: Specific industry area - the characteristics of the target audience (novice, advanced, mixed audience, etc.)
5: A closing date - the end date for receiving proposals
Once you've completed your RFP, send it to us and we will post it (at no cost to you) on the R.E.P. Community Site where our global network of REPs can respond.
Individual R.E.P.s interested in collaborating with you will then contact you with their proposals. (Please note that while requests for consulting services also may be included, PMI offers no endorsements or warranties with regard to consulting services.)
