Global Credentials

Statistical Snapshot
One reflection of the emergence of project management as the dominant management paradigm can be seen in the PMI Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification. In 1997, there were only 6,397 PMP® certification holders. 10 years later, there were 267,937.



The PMI Professional Credentials Program
The PMI Professional Credentials Program is recognized around the globe and maintains an ISO 9001 certification in Quality Management Systems. PMI's leadership as the global certification body for project management was further advanced in 2006, when the Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential process received ISO 17024 accreditation.

There are nearly 300,000 credential holders worldwide in virtually every area of human endeavor from business to government and not-for-profit sectors.

PMI now offers specific certification for practitioners with different levels of experience.

1: The Certified Associate of Project Management (CAPM®) Credential
The CAPM® credential is for individuals who are responsible for individual project tasks in their area of expertise (e.g., finance, marketing, legal, customer care, market research, fulfillment, processing). The responsibility does not need to be industry specific, but must be relevant across many functional areas and industries. 2: The PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) Credential
The PMI-SP credential
is for individuals with advanced expertise in project scheduling management and are responsible for creating and maintaining the project schedule. For more information, download the PMI-SP Credential Handbook and the PMI-SP Credential Application.

3: The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) Credential
The PMI-RMP credential recognizes demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the specialized area of assessing and identifying project risks while mitigating threats and capitalizing on opportunities. Candidates are responsible for identifying project risks and preparing mitigation plans.

4 : The Project Management Professional (PMP®) Credential
The PMP® credential is the world's pre-eminent professional certification in the field of project management, with more than 218,000 credential holders in more than 160 countries. The credential is designed for individuals who lead and direct cross-functional teams to deliver projects within the constraints of schedule, budget, and scope. 5: Program Management Professional (PgMP®) Credential
The
PgMP® credential is for individuals who manage programs that contain complex activities that span functions, organizations, geographic regions and cultures. They build credibility, establish rapport and maintain communication with stakeholders; possess advanced skills in finance, cross-cultural awareness, leadership, influence, communication, negotiation and conflict resolution.
